EMDR AND DISSOCIATIVE SYMPTOMS Instructors Ulrich F. Lanius Ulrich F. Lanius, Ph.D. is a Clinical and Neuro Psychologist in West Vancouver , British Columbia , who specializes in the treatment of traumatic stress syndromes. He is both an EMDR Institute facilitator, as well as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. Dr. Lanius has been at the forefront of integrating recent research in neuroscience into the treatment of traumatic stress syndromes and related phenomena. He has been instrumental in adapting the use of EMDR for clients with significant dissociative symptoms (e.g., Complex PTSD, Dissociative Disorders and Somatization Disorders). His approach conjoins EMDR with a number of other techniques and interventions that include but are not limited to body-oriented approaches, ego-state therapy, applied kinesiology, energy approaches, aroma therapy, as well as innovative pharmacological approaches, all of them firmly grounded in an information processing model that has its foundations in neuroscience. He has a particular interest in the neurobiology of attachment and dissociation, a topic that he has presented on nationally and internationally. Dawna Dixx Milstein Dawna Dixx Milstein graduated from University of Toronto in 1972 with a diploma in Physical & Occupational Therapy. Since that time she has had the opportunity to work in a variety of mental health & psychiatric & educational settings. Often with individuals who were bringing new ideas, concepts & theories to the therapeutic world. Through Dixx’s exposure to a wide variety of therapeutic models & tools she is excited to share these very useful techniques/ methods for clients experiencing challenges with stabilization. As Dixx completed her degree at UBC she had the opportunity to teach at the school of Rehabilitation medicine sharing her skills psychiatric occupational therapy.
